ABOUT ME
I am a Danish artist born in Silkeborg, Denmark, in 1964. I moved to Riga, Latvia in 1992 where I was admitted to the Latvian Academy of Art. There I met Latvian graphic artist Vita Lenerte, and after the first semester at the Academy I became Lenerte’s private student. I am educated within the traditional graphic techniques, but found my niche working with a technique called collagraphic printmaking.
Member of Fyns Grafiske Værksted (The Funen Printmaking Workshop).
THE TECHNIQUE
Collagraphy is a different way of making graphic from the traditional graphic technique.
Each motive on the plate is built with layers of glue, giving texture and depth to the plate. The tools are often the same as in traditional graphics, however the advantage with collography is that it allows the possibility for a more liberated line and flexibility in creating the motive. Moreover, by using this technique one can avoid working with harmful chemicals and use natural materials instead.
I make a very limited amount of prints from each plate, maximum 20 pictures printed on either white or black paper. The prints are hand made and each print differs in its colouring, which makes each of them unique.
My art has been described as poetic and harmonious with a deep philosophical message.
The pictures have been exhibited in places such as Stockholm, Sweden; Riga, Latvia; Tallinn, Estonia; London, UK; Hamburg, Germany; Pskov, Russia as well as Copenhagen an several other places in Denmark.
